Diesel particulate filter (DPF)
P2463 Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Restriction - Soot Accumulation
The ECU estimates the DPF soot load from the differential pressure sensor and its soot model. P2463 is set when soot accumulation exceeds the calibrated limit, usually because regenerations have not been completed successfully.
Common causes
- Frequent short trips preventing regeneration
- Interrupted or failed regenerations
- Faulty differential pressure sensor or hoses
- Faulty exhaust gas temperature sensor
- Engine faults causing excessive soot, such as injector, EGR or boost leak problems
Typical symptoms
- Check engine light and/or DPF warning light on
- Reduced power or limp mode
- Forced regeneration requested or regeneration blocked
- Increased fuel consumption
P2463 and NuoVolta
If the DPF has been removed for off-road or motorsport use, where permitted by law, the NuoVolta DPF / ADV Removal solution adjusts the ECU calibration for operation without the filter, and the DTC removal feature can disable this code. On a fitted filter, fix the cause of excessive soot and perform a regeneration first.
