Diesel particulate filter (DPF)
P244A Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Differential Pressure Too Low (Bank 1)
The ECU monitors the pressure difference across the DPF and compares it with the value expected for the current exhaust flow. P244A is set when the measured differential pressure is too low, which can indicate a damaged or missing filter or a sensor or hose problem.
Common causes
- Cracked, damaged or removed DPF substrate
- Disconnected, split or blocked sensor hoses
- Sensor hoses connected the wrong way round
- Faulty differential pressure sensor
- Exhaust leak near the filter
Typical symptoms
- Check engine light (MIL) on
- Regeneration disabled
- Possible visible smoke
- Reduced power on some vehicles
P244A and NuoVolta
When the DPF has been removed for off-road or motorsport use, where permitted by law, the NuoVolta DPF / ADV Removal solution adjusts the ECU calibration and the DTC removal feature can disable this code. If the filter is fitted, check the sensor hoses and filter condition first.

Diagnose and repair real faults first. Removing or disabling emission systems is only permitted where allowed by law, for example for off-road or motorsport use.
