Diesel particulate filter (DPF)
P244B Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Differential Pressure Too High (Bank 1)
The ECU monitors the pressure difference across the DPF and compares it with the value expected for the current exhaust flow. P244B is set when the measured differential pressure is higher than expected, typically indicating a heavily loaded or restricted filter or a sensor fault.
Common causes
- Excessive soot or ash load in the DPF
- Failed or incomplete regenerations
- Blocked sensor hose or faulty differential pressure sensor
- Restriction in the exhaust system downstream of the filter
Typical symptoms
- Check engine light and/or DPF warning light on
- Reduced power or limp mode
- Frequent regeneration attempts
- Increased fuel consumption
P244B and NuoVolta
If the DPF has been removed for off-road or motorsport use, where permitted by law, the NuoVolta DPF / ADV Removal solution adjusts the ECU calibration and the DTC removal feature can disable this code. On a fitted filter, check the sensor and attempt a regeneration or cleaning first.

Diagnose and repair real faults first. Removing or disabling emission systems is only permitted where allowed by law, for example for off-road or motorsport use.
