Diesel particulate filter (DPF)
P2453 Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Pressure Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance
The ECU checks the DPF differential pressure sensor signal for plausibility, for example against the expected value with the engine off and across different exhaust flow conditions. P2453 is set when the signal is implausible but still within its electrical range.
Common causes
- Blocked, split or disconnected sensor hoses
- Faulty differential pressure sensor
- Moisture or soot in the sensor lines
- Sensor hoses swapped
- Wiring or connector problems
Typical symptoms
- Check engine light (MIL) on
- Regeneration disabled or not completed
- Reduced power or limp mode on some vehicles
P2453 and NuoVolta
When the DPF and its pressure sensor have been removed for off-road or motorsport use, where permitted by law, the NuoVolta DPF / ADV Removal solution adjusts the ECU calibration and the DTC removal feature can disable this code. With the filter fitted, inspect the hoses and test the sensor first.
