Mass air flow (MAF)
P0102 Mass or Volume Air Flow (MAF) Circuit Low Input
The ECU monitors the output signal of the MAF sensor. P0102 is set when the signal stays below the minimum expected value with the engine running.
Common causes
- Disconnected or damaged MAF connector
- Open or shorted signal wire
- Missing sensor power supply or ground
- Failed MAF sensor
- Large intake air leak after the sensor
Typical symptoms
- Check engine light (MIL) on
- Hard starting, stalling or rough running
- Reduced power or limp mode
P0102 and NuoVolta
If the MAF sensor has been removed for off-road or motorsport use, where permitted by law, the NuoVolta MAF Removal solution adjusts the ECU calibration to run without the MAF signal and the DTC removal feature can disable this code. Otherwise, check the connector, wiring and sensor first.
Diagnose and repair real faults first. Removing or disabling emission systems is only permitted where allowed by law, for example for off-road or motorsport use.
