TVA REMOVAL

TVA (Throttle Valve Assembly)

The throttle valve, also known as TVA (Throttle Valve Assembly), is a component that controls air intake in internal combustion engines. This valve opens and closes when the driver presses the accelerator pedal and regulates the amount of air entering the engine. The throttle valve directly affects the performance, acceleration and fuel consumption of the engine.

FUNCTION OF THROTTLE VALVE

The throttle valve basically controls the amount of air entering the engine. This regulates airflow to optimize the engine's fuel-air mixture. Here are the main functions of the throttle valve:

  • Controlling Airflow: The throttle valve opens and closes depending on the accelerator pedal. The harder the pedal is pressed, the more the valve opens and more air enters the engine. This allows the engine to accelerate.
  • Managing Engine Performance: The throttle valve is a critical component for adjusting the operating speed and torque of the engine. It optimizes engine performance by regulating air flow.
  • Adjusting Fuel-Air Mixture: The engine control unit (ECU) monitors the throttle valve position and airflow. Based on this information, it adjusts the amount of fuel sent to the injectors and ensures the ideal fuel-air mixture.
  • Checking Idle Speed: The throttle valve ensures proper airflow when the engine is idling. In modern vehicles, the idle control valve or idle air control valve (IACV - Idle Air Control Valve) supports this function.

COMPONENTS OF TVA (Throttle Valve Assembly)

The throttle valve consists of several main components:

  • Butterfly Plate: A rotating disk that regulates air flow. It opens and closes depending on the gas pedal.
  • Housing: The structure that houses the butterfly plate and other components. It is usually made of aluminum.
  • Sensors:
    • Throttle Position Sensor (TPS): Monitors the position of the throttle valve and transmits this information to the ECU.
    • Air Intake Temperature Sensor: In some systems, it measures the air temperature and uses this information to optimize the air-fuel mixture.
  • Actuator (for Electronically Controlled Systems): In electronic throttle valve systems, the electric motor controls the movement of the butterfly plate.

PROBLEMS OF TVA (Throttle Valve Assembly)

  • Limp mode problem
  • Malfunction light coming on (Check Engine Light)
  • Erratic Idle
  • Poor Acceleration
  • Increase in Fuel Consumption
  • Engine Hard to Start or Not Starting
  • Increase in Exhaust Emissions

NUOVOLTA SOLUTION OF TVA (Throttle Valve Assembly)

  • Offical diagnostic tool must reset position the relevant module.
  • DTC codes should be read and removed with a diagnostic tool.
  • Apply the solution of the module related to NUOVOLTA.
  • Write the mod file to the ECU.
  • Check the dashboard and DTC logs. Take it for a test drive.
  • If all the checks are OK, it means the problem is solved.
