Swirl flaps
P2008 Intake Manifold Runner Control Circuit/Open (Bank 1)
The ECU monitors the electrical control circuit of the intake manifold runner (swirl or tumble flap) actuator or solenoid. P2008 is set when an open circuit or abnormal electrical condition is detected.
Common causes
- Open or damaged wiring to the actuator
- Faulty actuator motor or solenoid
- Corroded or loose connector
- Blown fuse or power supply fault
Typical symptoms
- Check engine light (MIL) on
- Flaps not operating
- Rough idle or reduced low-speed torque
- Reduced power on some vehicles
P2008 and NuoVolta
If the swirl or tumble flaps and their actuator have been removed for off-road or motorsport use, where permitted by law, the NuoVolta Flaps / Swirl Removal solution adjusts the ECU calibration and the DTC removal feature can disable this code. With the flaps fitted, check the wiring and actuator first.
Diagnose and repair real faults first. Removing or disabling emission systems is only permitted where allowed by law, for example for off-road or motorsport use.
