WATER PUMP REMOVAL

WATER PUMP

In VAG group vehicles (Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, Skoda, Porsche), The water pump is a critical component of the engine's cooling system. The water pump prevents the engine from overheating by circulating the engine's coolant (usually a mixture of water and antifreeze) between the engine block, radiator, and other cooling components.

FUNCTION OF WATER PUMP

1. Function

  • Circulation of Coolant: The water pump circulates coolant around the engine, thus controlling the temperature of the engine. The coolant absorbs heat from inside the engine and carries it to the radiator, where the heat is expelled.
  • Preventing Engine Overheating: When the water pump is not working properly, heat builds up inside the engine, causing the engine to overheat. Overheating can cause serious damage or complete engine failure.
  • Maintaining Constant Operating Temperature: The water pump helps keep the engine at optimum operating temperature. Running the engine at a constant temperature increases fuel efficiency and extends the life of the engine.

2. Working Principle of Water Pump

  • Drive Mechanism: The water pump is usually driven by the engine's belt (timing belt or auxiliary belt). This belt ensures continuous operation of the water pump during engine operation.
  • Propeller: The impeller inside the water pump rotates to circulate coolant through the engine. The impeller takes the liquid and pushes it towards the radiator at high pressure.
    1. Drive: When the engine starts, the belt system rotates the pulley of the water pump.
    2. Rotational Movement: The pulley rotates the shaft and the propeller.
    3. Fluid Movement: The impeller pushes the coolant through the engine's cooling channels and towards the radiator.
    4. Cooling: Coolant absorbs heat as it circulates around the engine and is cooled in the radiator.
    5. Recirculation: The cooled liquid is pumped back around the engine by the water pump.

COMPONENTS OF WATER PUMP

  • Water Pump
  • Pump Impeller
  • Roller
  • Shaft
  • Gaskets and seals
  • Drive pulley
  • Water Pump Covers

PROBLEMS OF WATER PUMP

  • Engine overheating
  • Water pump working noise
  • Low Coolant Level
  • Malfunction light coming on (Check Engine Light)

NUOVOLTA SOLUTION OF WATER PUMP

  • DTC codes should be read and removed with a diagnostic tool.
  • Apply the solution of the module related to NUOVOLTA.
  • Write the mod file to the ECU.
  • Check the dashboard and DTC logs. Take it for a test drive.
  • If all the checks are OK, it means the problem is solved.
