READINESS CALIBRATION

READINESS CALIBRATION

It is a term used to determine whether vehicles' emission control systems are working correctly. This term is especially important in vehicle emissions testing and OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) systems.

FUNCTION OF READINESS CALIBRATION

  • Emission Tests: Vehicle emission tests are tests performed to measure the harmful gases released by the vehicle into the atmosphere and to evaluate its compliance with emission standards. These tests are important to determine whether the vehicle's emission control systems are working properly.
  • Readiness Monitors: The OBD system monitors the vehicle's emission control systems and has checklists called "readiness monitors" that indicate whether certain components (e.g., oxygen sensors, EVAP system, catalytic converters) are operating correctly. Each readiness monitor monitors the status of a relevant emission control system component.
  • Readiness Calibration: Readiness calibration means that all or a specific readiness monitor in the vehicle's OBD system (for example, the EVAP system) is working correctly and is ready for emissions testing. This is necessary for the vehicle to undergo emissions testing and meet emissions standards.
  • Readiness Condition: In order for a vehicle to enter emission tests, all readiness monitors in the OBD system must be in "complete" or "ready" status. If one or more readiness monitors are in the "incomplete" or "not ready" state, the vehicle cannot enter or pass emissions tests.

COMPONENTS OF READINESS CALIBRATION

  • Readiness Monitors

PROBLEMS OF READINESS CALIBRATION

  • Malfunction light coming on (Check Engine Light)
  • Performance Decrease or Fuel Efficiency Decrease
  • Emission Control Problems

NUOVOLTA SOLUTION OF READINESS CALIBRATION

  • Apply the solution of the module related to NUOVOLTA.
  • Write the mod file to the ECU.
  • Check the dashboard and DTC logs. Take it for a test drive.
  • If all the checks are OK, it means the problem is solved.
