KICKDOWN REMOVAL

KICKDOWN REMOVAL

It refers to a feature in vehicles with automatic transmission that allows the transmission to suddenly shift to a lower gear when the driver quickly depresses the accelerator pedal. This is used to maximize vehicle acceleration and momentarily provide more power to the driver. Kickdown is especially useful when overtaking, when sudden acceleration is required or when going uphill.

In some cases, this feature may be cumbersome and the driver may not want it. This feature can be removed with this module.

FUNCTION OF KICKDOWN

  • Sudden Press of the Accelerator Pedal: When the driver quickly and fully presses the accelerator pedal, the kickdown switch or sensor in the vehicle detects this movement.
  • Signal to Transmission Control Unit Sending: The kickdown sensor or switch sends a signal to the transmission control unit (TCU or ECU). This signal indicates the driver's need for sudden acceleration.
  • Downshift: The transmission control unit reduces the current gear to a lower gear, allowing the engine to run at higher speeds. This allows the vehicle to produce more torque and accelerate.
  • Maximum Power and Acceleration: By lowering the gear, the engine operates at higher rpm and produces maximum power. This allows the vehicle to accelerate and allows the driver to achieve the desired increase in speed.

COMPONENTS OF KICKDOWN

  • Gas pedal
  • Throttle Position Sensors

NUOVOLTA SOLUTION OF KICKDOWN

  • Apply the solution of the module related to NUOVOLTA.
  • Write the mod file to the ECU.
  • Take it for a test drive.
  • If all the checks are OK, it means the problem is solved.
